MicroCare CCA is a powerful new vapor degreaser based on innovative HFC technology from DuPont. The cleaner is a near-azeotrope of a nonflammable hydrofluorocarbon HFC solvent called HFC 43-10mee (which is also known as 2,3-dihydrodeca-fluoropentane) and HFC-365mfc (pentafluorobutane) along with trans-1,2-dichloroethylene. It has "zero" ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential, making it an ideal replacement for HCFC-141b, HCFC-225, n-propyl bromide and perfluorocarbon solvents (PFCs) in many applications. Nonflammable and with good compositional stability, MicroCare CCA is an ideal choice for use in vapor degreaser systems as a degreaser and precision cleaner. It has enhanced solvency for organic and hydrocarbon soils, making it particularly effective in many precision degreasing applications MicroCare CCA also may be used as a carrier fluid for silicone lubricants and other materials in medical and mold-release applications. The ultimate benefit of selecting MicroCare CCA is that this cleaner is the least expensive ozone-safe, nonflammable degreaser on the market today which is well-suited for the most demanding applications. Details about the solvent and its physical properties are found in the DuPont Product Spec sheet, available as a PDF file.
MicroCare CCA has a broad range of cleaning capabilities. it is highly effective on cutting oils, stamping oils, gear oils, vacuum oils, heavy greases, waxes, hydraulic oils and mineral oils. Vapor degreasing should be used for optimum cleaning effectiveness and economy. MicroCare CCA is compatible with most polymeric materials commonly encountered in degreasing of precision parts. Acrylic, ABS, and polycarbonate parts, particularly if under stress, may show slight cracking or crazing damage and should be tested. EPDM, butyl rubber, Buna-S and neoprene are recommended for elastomeric parts. Testing before widespread deployment is recommended.
DuPont has assigned an 8-hour TWA AEL for MicroCare CCA of 200 ppm with a 400 ppm ceiling. It is a slight skin and eye irritant and has low inhalation toxicity. Like most of the MicroCare products, MicroCare CCA is not flammable under normal conditions and temperatures. Laboratory tests with virgin solvent in an open vessel show the solvent will not sustain combustion, and quickly self-extinguishes. For example, the product exhibits no closed cup flash point per the Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Tester (ASTM D93). As such, it is not classified as a flammable liquid by NFPA or DOT. For further details about the safety of the solvent carefully read and understand the data in the DuPont Material Safety Data Sheet, available as a PDF file. MicroCare CCA has "zero" ozone-depletion potential and low global warming potential. MicroCare CF is accepted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program, as a substitute for ozone-depleting substances. MicroCare CCA is not a hazardous air pollutant (HAP), and therefore is not subject to NESHAP regulation, SARA Title III Section 313 nor SARA Title III (EPCRA) reporting requirements. All the ingredients are TSCA listed.
MicroCare CCA is readily recoverable by off-line and in-line distillation equipment such as a vapor degreaser or a still. MicroCare CCA is available commercially in 55-gal (208-L) drums, 5-gal (19-L) pails and one-gallon (five liter) packages. One liter samples are available from MicroCare Marketing Services on request. Customers are encouraged to secure samples for compatibility and performance testing.
