Using Vertrel^® after an aqueous or semi-aqueous pre-cleaning process is a great "one-two" punch. This is technically called solvent drying. The idea is to use the cheap aqueous cleaners for the coarsest cleaning, and then use Vertrel^® for the final, ultra-fine tweaking at the end of the process.

There are two great choices for water and water spots:

• Vertrel^® XP -- For optics and other applications where there is little contamination and not a lot of water, XP is the cleaner of choice. The alcohol in the XP absorbs the water, disolves any residual ionics in the water spots, and delivers fast, reliable and consistent cleaning. A great choice for optics and other applications where surfactants are not acceptable.
  
  
• A combination of Vertrel^® XDA and Vertrel^® XF-- The "DA" in the product's name stands for Drying Agent and this product works great. It uses a small amount of surfactant blended with the solvent to dissolve water and is best in applications which involve LOTS of water.
  
  Since XDA includes a surfactant, it needs to be rinsed. The recommended rinsing agent is Vertrel^® XF or CF. Using these cleaners ensures the products will be completely free of water spots. If you're removing gallons of water each day from, say, costume jewelery, then the XDA/XF combination is the best choice for you.
